Why Sex Education?

Sex education is very rare in Indonesia because a lot of people still think it’s not an important and necessary thing. Many may not know or realize it, but sex education is rather important. It’s crucial to properly teach students and teens about the dangers, the positive and negative aspects of sexual relations.

There are two factors why sex education is important for teenagers. The first one is when children grow into adolescents, they do not understand about sex education, because parents still think that talking about sex is an unnecessary thing. So from this misunderstanding, teens feel irresponsible with sex or the reproductive anatomy.

The second one is from teenagers’ lack of understanding about sex and their reproductive anatomy. The impact of teenage not understanding about sex can cause many negative things to happen, such as sex before marriage, unwanted pregnancy, the transmission of HIV and so on.

The case of promiscuity has escalated because it is increasingly triggered by technological advances, as well as factors from the global economy. Therefore, sex education is very important for adolescents so that cases of promiscuity can be reduced and prevented.

Sex education should be taught in schools as a lesson because schools have a bigger effect on the environment. Sex is a sensitive topic and the way it is delivered must be controlled. Explaining sex to students does not have to be done in a routine, but it has to be taught once by making small groups and giving clear explanations. Not only will teenagers listen, but they can also ask questions so that two-way communication occurs.

Also, the roles of parents are very important for children. Do not feel ashamed to explain about sex education to children at an early age. If the child can understand sex education, start giving explanations of the dangers of having sex before marriage. Parents must communicate a lot with their children so that the children have a place to confer and ask questions.

Last not but least, as teenagers, we have to be smart in choosing relationships. It’s better to spend time with positive things and don’t be afraid to say no.
