Hello Binusian, how have you been lately? Do you feel grateful for choosing BINUS University as the next step of your journey? Some people might just spend a couple of months as a freshman, and some others might spend even more. But one thing for sure, we will face the real tough world sooner or later. Are you ready for it?
BNEC sees this matter as the common problem for most university students. Time flies so fast that 4 years will pass in the blink of eye. Then, there will only be a couple of us who are ready to face the future.
Imagine thousands of students graduate together and apply for those limited job slots. Are you ready to compete against thousands of other students in a global scale? (Well, globalization strikes all aspect of our life.) Thus, no matter when, we have to prepare for our future, because it’s now or never.
The seminar “Prepare Your Future: Now or Never” was created to overcome those challenges, and conducted successfully on October 3, 2019 at Room 800 BINUS University Anggrek Campus. We invited 3 successful speakers: Tyovan Widagdo (CEO of Bahaso and Asia ’30 Under 30’ Forbes Magazine), Jessica Laay (Scholarship Awardee of ASEAN in Today’s World, etc.), and Jevon Averill (2018 Wibowo Award).
All 3 of them were Binusian, so through this seminar, we want to set a goal in mind that regardless of our choice and path, we will have to be ready (read: Binusian need to take a 3+1 Program; Internship, Study Abroad, Entrepreneurship, or Research).
In this 2 hours 30 minutes, Mr. Jevon was the first one to speak and inspire others with his experience and tips to prepare us for internship program. He talked about his own life story, how life was getting in his way but ‘never-give-up’ is the key, and how he eventually won the 2018 Wibowo Award, the most prestigious award in BINUS graduation ceremony.
As for Ms. Jessica, the 2nd speaker, she talked and persuaded the audience to take a big leap by ‘getting-out-of-comfort-zone’, and joining scholarships and international student exchange. Effort and action will pay off, like her who was eventually awarded with many international scholarships, received Beasiswa Djarum, and joined International Internship Program.
Finally, it’s the last and most awaited speaker, Mr. Tyovan’s turn to tell his experiences, starting from his story as a boy from a small village in Central Java, bringing big impact to his village during his high school period, continuing his study in BINUS, until how he keep writing his list of personal achievement and finally standing tall as one of the young and successful entrepreneurs, awarded with Asia ’30 Under 30′ Forbes Magazine.
Opportunity + Secret Receipts = Success
In the end, no matter which path the 3 of them or us choose, we will reach our dream with the right formula. Brave yourself to take every opportunity no matter how scary it may seem. Every choice has its own consequences, and the same opportunity will not come twice.
